Saving vs Purchasing...

Every time a dog is purchased from a breeder, another dog dies in an animal shelter. U.S animal shelters must put 3 to 4 million dogs and cats to death every year. Meanwhile, dog breeders are breeding more dogs...Dog breeding aggravates the already dire animal overpopulation crisis and contributes to the deaths of homeless animals by encouraging people to buy purebred dogs from breeders and pet stores. Keeping shelter dogs out of early graves is as easy as choosing to adopt from a worthy rescue group rather than buying from a breeder.

I am guilty: I watched the Westminster Dog show last night, and didn't even realize what I was supporting. All dogs are lovable, why do they have to be a "brand name" in order to be loved? It's something we all should think about the next time we think about having a dog in our lives.

Save a life; adopt.
