"TOM" seems to be a trend in my posts...

from the moment I saw the first TOMS shoes AT&T commercial I was hooked. For those of you who don't know, TOMS shoes is a company based in Santa Monica Cali who's mission is to end Podoconiosis: a disease that causes extreme swelling, repeated ulcers, and deformity in the legs caused by walking barefoot in silica-rich volcanic soil, where farming is survival. This is a HUGE health problem in many third-world countires, especially in Ethiopia. The worst part is it is COMPLETELY PREVENTABLE!

Here's why TOMS is so honorable: for every pair of shoes bought, they donate a pair to a child in need.

Who wouldn't want to support a mission like that? buy TOMS save a kids life- now that's impact.

I feel like TOMS shoes has alot to do with my last two posts: being a caring consumer. The more concious we are about what buy and what companies we support, the more our voices are heard. Buying Tom's of maine saves animals lives, the same way buying TOMS shoes saves humans lives.
